Kids Summer Art Camps

Grades 1-3 (2023-2024 School Year) June 12th through June 16th, July 10th through July 14th, or August 7th through August 12th.

The kids will be instructed in drawing by using shapes. A drawing book will be compiled. They will be instructed in color mixing and brush use before painting. It is possible that all of projects will not be accomplished. The following is a list of projects, mediums and artists:

Marvel super hero portrait –watercolor-Stan Lee
Pottery-Star Spangled Banner-(red, white and blue) pinch pot
The Farm, painting--Grant Wood, artist-independent
Sunflowers-tempera painting
Relief printing-Styrofoam and brayer
Stenciling- making basic tulip and leaf shaped stencils to create a symmetrical picture-Pennsylvania Fraktur
One brushstroke rooster-tempera painting

Grades 4-6 (2023-2024 School Year) June 26th through June 30th or July 24th through July 28th.

The kids will be instructed in contour drawing and gesture drawing as a prerequisite to the projects. They will be instructed in color theory and brush stroke techniques before painting. The following is a list of projects, mediums and artists.

Grades 7-8 (2023-2024 School Year) June 5th through June 9th

The kids will be instructed in contour and gesture drawing as a prerequisite to the projects.  Color theory and brush stroke techniques are introduced before painting. The following is a list of projects, mediums, and artists.

Relief sculpture, clay and plaster of Paris
Macaws-oil pastels-Barbara Wallace, artist
Wild Horses of Assateague-charcoal or pencil –Frederick Remington, artist-independent work
People in motion sculpture-plaster of Paris-Duane Hanson
Portrait-Marvel Super Heroes-tempera- Stan Lee
Study with analogous colors-watercolor of modified, enlarge flowers –- Georgia O’Keefe
Wire animal sculpture- newspaper armature wrapped with wire, the center is burned away.
